What is the Learn to Code Course?

The Learn to Code Course brings computing concepts and programming to life with increasing complexity and depth of understanding through a character-driven narrative. In each lesson, students utilize and develop their coding and physical computing skills to help Sam, the fearless cybersecurity officer, to complete her ‘missions’.

The course includes CSTA standards-aligned Content Packs, covering 4th to 8th Grade (US) and year 5-9 (UK), as well as Teaching Support resources.

Each Content Pack includes:

  • Teacher lesson plan - outlines the knowledge and skills required to teach the lesson and covers the Computer Science concepts, with an in-depth explanation of the programming. Each Lesson follows a ‘Learn, Do, Reflect’ structure.
  • Lesson slides - Present a visual, interactive guide to all parts of the lesson for students. The Slides are available as Google Slides.
  • Student mission journal - A resource for students to evidence, consolidate, and extend their learning from each lesson, as well as develop digital literacy.
  • Student step-by-step guide - A visual tool guide to the system build, which provides support for differentiation and independent learning.
