What is an input and which SAM blocks are inputs?

An input is something that sends data to a computer. In SAM Studio, our input blocks send data in different forms, e.g. a sensor or pressing a key or a button.

There are two types of inputs:

  • True/False inputs: True/False inputs have only 2 modes: True or False, such as a buttons being pressed or released.
  • Variable inputs: Variable inputs can have values that vary between 0-100, such as a Light Sensor that collects different values of brightness.

The SAM blocks that are inputs are the Button, Light Sensor, Slider, Tilt, Pressure, Proximity, and Heat blocks.
